Sanue.com publishes written summaries of household cleaning, laundry and pest control products. This Privacy Policy explains what information the site collects when you read it, why that information exists at all, who else is able to see it, and how you can ask us to correct or delete it. It covers everything served from the sanue.com domain, including the product write ups, the category listings and the contact page.
The short version
We do not sell anything on this site, so there is no checkout, no order history and no payment data. We do not ask readers to register, so there are no reader accounts. We do not operate a newsletter or a mailing list. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information to anyone. For the large majority of visitors, the only information that ever leaves their hands is whatever they choose to type into the contact form, and most visitors never use it.
What this site is
Sanue is an independent publisher and an Amazon Associates participant. The catalog of product write ups is assembled from manufacturer label text and retailer listing data. When you buy something you read about here, you leave this site and complete the purchase elsewhere, under that retailer’s own privacy policy. That split matters for this document, because it means the most sensitive information involved in a purchase, your name, address and payment details, never reaches our server.
Information you send us on purpose
The site runs one form, and it lives on the contact page. It is built with the Contact Form 7 plugin, and submissions are recorded in the WordPress database that runs this site as well as being delivered to the site operator. That means a copy of your message persists in our database until it is deleted, rather than existing only as an email in transit.
The fields are the ones you can see: typically a name, an email address, a subject and a message. Whatever you type into the message box is stored along with the rest, so if you paste a home address, a phone number, an order reference or a photograph into it, that becomes part of the stored record too. Please send only the detail you actually want us to hold. A submission is used for one purpose, which is reading and answering your message. It is not added to a marketing list, because there is no marketing list, and it is not passed to an advertiser or a data broker.
Information collected automatically
Every request to a website leaves a trace on the machine that answered it. Our web server keeps standard access logs, and a typical log line records the IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the response code, the referring page where a browser supplies one, and the browser user agent string. These logs are a byproduct of serving pages rather than something we set out to gather, and they are used to investigate errors, understand traffic load and identify automated abuse. They are not used to build a profile of an individual reader.
The site is served through Cloudflare, which sits in front of our server as a content delivery network and security filter. It inspects incoming requests to block automated attacks and may present a challenge page to a request that looks automated, in which case it can set a short lived cookie of its own to remember that the challenge was passed. Cloudflare processes this traffic under its own privacy terms.
Analytics
We measure which pages get read so that we know which parts of the catalog are worth expanding. The measurement runs through a first party analytics service that we operate ourselves on a separate domain, rather than through a third party advertising network. The site carries no Google Analytics, no AdSense and no advertising tag, and runs no behavioral retargeting.
What the analytics collect is deliberately coarse: the page viewed, the referring source, an approximate location derived from the IP address, the device type, and the click on an outbound product link. The purpose is aggregate reporting, and we do not attempt to identify individual readers from it. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we treat that as a request not to be measured beyond what the server log records anyway.
Cookies
An ordinary page view by a reader who is not logged in sets very few cookies, and often none at all. Cookies appear when something happens: a security challenge, an editor logging in, or the WooCommerce software underneath this WordPress installation reacting to an interaction. Separately, Amazon sets its own cookie on its own domain once you click through to it. Our Cookie Policy covers each category in detail, including the affiliate click cookie and the window Amazon applies to it.
Amazon and outbound links
Buying links on this site point to Amazon. When you follow one, you leave sanue.com and Amazon takes over, applying its own privacy policy, setting its own cookies and recording the visit in its own systems. We do not receive your name, email address, shipping address or payment details from Amazon. What we see, in aggregate reporting, is that a purchase attributable to this site took place and which item it was. Our Affiliate Disclosure explains that commercial relationship in plain terms.
Who else can see this information
A small number of service providers necessarily handle data on our behalf: the hosting company that runs the server holding the database and the logs, Cloudflare as the delivery and security layer in front of it, the analytics service described above, and Amazon as the retailer at the far end of an outbound link. We may also disclose information where a law, a court order or a valid request from a public authority requires it, where disclosure is needed to establish or defend a legal claim, or to investigate abuse of the site. If ownership of the site ever changed hands, the data held for it would move with it.
Why we process this information
Contact form submissions are processed because you asked a question and answering it requires reading what you sent. Server logs and security filtering are processed because a public website has a legitimate interest in staying online. Analytics are processed because we have a legitimate interest in knowing which write ups are useful. Where the law in your country requires consent for a category of processing instead, we rely on your consent and you can withdraw it.
How long we keep it
The periods below are targets we work to, not guarantees. We aim to delete stored contact form submissions within twenty four months of the conversation ending, sooner where the message plainly needs no record. We aim to keep raw server logs for no more than ninety days, subject to how the host rotates them. Analytics data is held in aggregate form and is not tied to a named individual, so it is retained for trend comparison.
Two honest caveats. Database backups run on their own schedule and are overwritten on their own schedule, so a copy of a deleted record can survive in a backup set for a period after it has gone from the live database. And where a record is needed to deal with a legal claim or an abuse investigation, it is kept until that matter closes.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, data protection law may give you the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to receive a copy of it, to have it corrected if it is wrong, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how it is processed, and to complain to your national data protection regulator. Residents of some United States jurisdictions have comparable rights, including a right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, which is straightforward here because we do not sell or share it in that sense.
To exercise any of these rights, send the request through the contact form. Deletion requests are handled the same way: tell us the email address you used and roughly when you wrote in, and we will remove the stored submission. We may need to ask a question back to locate the right record, and nobody is treated differently for making a request.
Children
This site is written for adults buying household supplies and is not directed at children under thirteen. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child. If you believe a child has sent us information through the contact form, tell us and we will delete it.
Security, other sites and changes
The site is served over HTTPS, administrative access is restricted, and the software stack is kept updated. Those are reasonable measures rather than a guarantee, and no method of transmitting or storing data over the internet is completely secure. The servers and services involved may sit in a country other than yours, so information you send can be processed outside your own jurisdiction.
