Ultraviolet light at 365 nanometers attracts a broad range of flying insects, and a zapper of this type will certainly catch insects. What the listing does not provide is any independent data on how many of those are mosquitoes. Mosquitoes locate people primarily by exhaled carbon dioxide, body heat and skin chemistry rather than by ultraviolet light, and independent research on the mosquito effectiveness of light based zappers is mixed. The listing does not clarify whether the unit is dual voltage, whether a specific plug type is fitted, or which regional version ships. Confirm the supply voltage and plug type on the product page before buying, and never use a plug adapter to run a device on a voltage it was not built for.
The waterproof claim
Devogue describes the unit as having an IPx4 waterproof rating. IPx4 is a splash rating: it certifies protection against water splashing from any direction, and it is not a rating for sustained rain, for hosing down or for immersion. Calling it waterproof overstates what that code means. Treat the unit as suitable for a covered porch, a patio under an overhang or a shed doorway, and not as something to leave out in a storm. Placement, and what to keep it away from
The single most useful thing to understand about a zapper is that it works by attraction.
